Not for Hire

Semi-glossed matte finished print.  Print size is 11x17 inches.

The US government has always had their spies and even bribed or people into working for them.  But the true warriors who had a duty to their people never switched sides.  The warriors, both men and women, never protected their tribes for payment.  They did so because they knew it was the right thing to do.  Whether it is cutting wood, hauling water, standing up to those who mean to harm others who cannot defend themselves, these were not reasons warranted for payment.  Its your duty as a human being to know that what is harmful is not right.  Never forget where your bloodline stems from, because that warrior spirit is hereditary.  Unfortunately, so is the treachery to your people.  That is also hereditary.  It’s important that you remain strong and continue to make your ancestors proud that their actions live on within you.  Never back down, never act as a warrior for hire.

The original was created from five “Henry Elling Banker” checks, placed together and painted over.  The check dates vary between the later 1800’s and early 1900’s, all with various amounts that were cashed out.
